The Colorado Chapter of The Ninety-Nines has announced it will launch the next generation of its Mile High Air Derby, a proficiency airplane piloting event aimed to test the skill and knowledge of its participants. The event will take place on Saturday, September 8, 2012, with no rain date planned.

The Mile High Air Derby will be flown as a tri-state event, originating from the Fort Collins-Loveland Municipal Airport in Loveland, Colorado, and featuring flying activities at the Laramie Regional Airport, in Laramie, Wyoming, and the Kimball Municipal Airport/Robert E. Arraj Field in Kimball, Nebraska.

The one-day air rally will feature five tests of aviation skill: estimated fuel planning,
estimated time en route,
spot landings,
accuracy “bomb” event, and
a surprise event that will be announced the morning of the event to participants.
