The mission of Challenge Air is to build self-esteem and confidence in children and youth with special needs, through the experience of flight. The event is free for kids and youth between the ages of 7 and 30. With a network of nearly 3,500 volunteers nationwide, volunteers serve as pilots, ground crew, fundraisers, planning committee members and in numerous other capacities. Since 1993, Challenge Air has enriched over 30,000 children’s lives through its unique aviation program. Their mission reflects the life-changing impact the flight experience has on children, families, donors, sponsors and communities as a whole.
